Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI) is well designed and easy to navigate. The terminal surrounds three sides of the Hourly Garage and has two levels, the Lower and Upper levels. The Lower Level handles Arrivals and Baggage Claim, and also houses the USO offices for US servicemen. The Upper Level caters for Departures and consists of five concourses, labeled A through E. Concourse A/B is the main departure area, while Concourse E is for international flights. Shops, Duty-Free and Retail Outlets
Concourse A/B has a wide variety of specialty stores such as Celebrate Maryland and Fire and Ice, while Concourse E has tax and duty free outlets. There are Hudson's News stores in each concourse as well as three bookshops. The Body Shop and Bon Voyage Luggage offer last minute travel and personal items.
Bars, Cafés and Restaurants
Baltimore Washington International Airport has a huge number of dining options, provided by an assortment of restaurants, fast-food outlets, cafés and bars spread across the Upper Level. Choose from seafood, Mexican, Italian, grills and well-known chains such as McDonald's, Taco Bell and Auntie Anne's. Most of the eateries are situated in the Concourse A/B area of the Upper Level, although the other concourses have at least one café and bar each.
Currency Exchange, Communications and Banking Facilities
Baltimore Washington International Airport has three ATM machines situated on the Upper Level and two on the Lower Level, conveniently positioned in the main hub area. There are four postal counters for both standard and express mail services, while the Travelex business service centers provide currency exchange services. Free WI-FI Internet access is available throughout the terminal.
Business and Conference Facilities
There are two Travelex business service centers on the Upper Level of the terminal building. One is situated opposite the American West ticket counter in the main hub area, while the other is next to the Garden Court Café, near Concourse E. These business centers provide foreign currency exchange, traveler's checks, phone cards, facsimile, photocopying (Concourse E center only), travel insurance and western union services. CK's Catering and the Friendship Center have conference facilities, as do the larger airport hotels such as the Hilton and Marriot hotels.
Disabled Facilities
Baltimore Washington International (BWI) has some of the most extensive disabled passenger facilities of any airport, conforming completely with and in some areas surpassing ADA standards. There is plenty of convenient handicapped parking, complete with elevator-equipped shuttle services, making access to the terminal building comfortable. Inside the terminal, there are numerous ramps, elevators, modified telephones and special toilets catering to the needs of all disabled visitors.
